Way out on limb here...flapping away with the breeze...

OK...in the immortal words of Monty Python..."And now for something completely different"...

Our Newest Shadow Box...'Madness and Mayhem' ... our weird little tribute to the Mad Hatter... I really DO love this piece...and believe me when I say...these photos don't do the detail justice. His colors are bright and he had lots of little things happening that you don't really see...drat the luck. This one is different for us in that we normally do our Ghostie Black and White Cobwebby Shadow Boxes...been doing those for several years now...but this one SCREAMED Color...the B&W would not have cut it I am afraid.
He is all sculpted in polymer clay ... very flat yet with perspective and dimensions in both the clay and paint and shadowing. I created the background art work (green teacups) following the lead of the J. Depp / Burton image... the shadow box is 8 inches by 10 inches.
OK OK I know...he has a rather demented look about him... HE'S MAD!!!!!! As a Hatter!!!! This is always the way I really saw the Hatter....slightly Nuts, with just a small touch of evislish wicked humor....

So there you have it.... The Mad Hatter as seen through the eyes of Jodi. I will be doing a doll at some point too...he will REALLY be nutso.

I am going to go over and pop him onto ETSY...normally I do this on EBAY...but I am thinking ETSY this time...

OK...off to have a spot of tea (actually a cup 'o' joe) the Tea just sounded more fitting!!

Tootles...

Award and Confession Time...GULP!

I was given another Award by Dear Jayne...of Tallulah Belle Originals...
Not sure of the purpose of this award other than it is 'pretty' ...I like the colors, like the Vintage Look...and I think this is an award that was originally designed by the sender to have the 'receiver' Spill their Guts with deep dark secrets for all to read....GULP!!!!
Could be fun...could be scary ...we shall see....
Now the rules of this one are that I have to list 10 things about myself that you don't know. Hmmm...lets see :-)...
1.) Growing up in So. California I lived across the street from a Circus Family from Germany... who rode unicycles everywhere, juggled non stop and when they would dive into their pool...they would stand 4 high on each others shoulders (diving board...we don't need no stinking diving board!!) ...this is where my deep dark desire to juggle came from.
2.) My family was given some of the first 'Pop Tarts' to try before they hit the market
3.) I saw a UFO in the sky over the Nevada Desert
4.) I grew up in two separate Haunted Houses, one in Calif. one in Nevada...OOoOoO the stories I could tell. Oh...and one briefly in Oregon...Cold Spots and all.
5.) I have been married twice...first time when I just turned 18.....
6.) At 15 I slept out on the street with friends waiting for the Rose Parade the next morning....had GREAT spots because of it....what a blast. My Mom never knew.....
7.) At 11 years old I caught my first Blue Marlin in Mexico...195 lbs.
8.) I didn't learn to drive until I was 18...and not a stick shift until I was 24... that is all I drive now.
9.) It has always been my desire to be a professional Singer.... would practice for hours in front of the mirror...last time I did that....last week!!!
10.) I once quit a job because they would not let me have Halloween off to man my Haunted House that I put together each year... I arranged for this day 6 months in advance... I faced the boss and said VERY loudly...I QUIT!!!...always wanted to do that...just like in the movies!
OK...now I get to pick 3 'suckers'...er...ahhhhh...Bloggers! to spill it!!!
Let's see....hmmmmm...how about....

OK...let it be known up front...if you don't want to play along...that is totally COOL.... but if you do.... thanks so much... might be fun!!!

Thanks again Jayne....I have added your award to my mantel ...
Hugs for a Great Weekend All

My Friend Pam's Blog...a GREAT Read

I would like to take a moment here to introduce you to a friend of mine ...Pam Reinke. She is a local Lake Havasu Artist...that Richard and I have had the pleasure of knowing for several years now. Pam is talented on so many levels , it is hard to count them all...Artist, Writer, Philosopher, Photographer, Poet, Successful in Business and Athlete...just to mention a few. Her heart is a wonderful messenger for her words ... and she has the ability to open doors we thought locked in both our hearts and minds... Pam has very recently started to 'Blog'... and I for one am thrilled. Please take a moment to visit my friend Pam's Blog... It has become one of my 'centering' rituals each day....

Harry Potter Does it Again....

Well as most of you know we saw the movie Yesterday...WHAT Movie you may ask...PLEEEEASE, is there ANY OTHER??? Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince ...of course!!

If I had to sum up the entire 2 hour and 37 minutes with just one word it would have to be...

'Mesmerizing' ...from start to finish the movie had you in it's ' clutches'...squeezing tightly through the thrilling parts and patting gently in the sweeter moments...of which there were many! To sum up in a sentence... "Our little students of Hogwarts have turned into young adults...when did this happen??" ... I liked this movie so much in that it brought back a side of Hogwarts and the individuals not seen in a while...it seemed to focus a lot on the students and other familiar players...which I liked very much. Many of us in the dark theater were "sighing" and "ahhhh-ing" quite a bit....

The action was over the top wonderful and of course the props, sets, costumes, and other magical stuff made me smile ear to ear in amazement and awe!

Without giving anything away .... like with most movies (and HP is no exception ) many things are changed from how it is written in the book...story line, characters , tasks performed, settings...little tiny things that if you are a real HP junkie (like us) you will notice...if not... it flows
beautifully...totally unnoticed. Now I am not saying this is a bad thing, I understand moving this to fit that is necessary at times for the sake of 'Image Story Telling' ... so it was all fine, and not one ounce of it bothered us. I am curious to hear others tales of what they thought of certain scenes and the small changes.

It was the fastest 2 hours and 37 minutes I have ever spent...went by in a flash...that tells you how swept up in the magic one can become.
To sum up... I fell in love all over again with 3 small kids and their classmates who I got to know several years ago.... this was not a movie of fiction but one of real life characters ...who I believe are out there right now sipping butter beer ... that is the true magic of this movie.... you believe!!...and I do!!!

Last Potter Piece for the Day...Argus Filch

I am so darned excited... a couple hours to go before we are sitting in our seats... you would think I was only 12 years old...well, maybe today....we ARE!!!
Anyway..just wanted to pop on our latest HP Piece to round off the HP 2 day slide show...
This is a commission , 1:12th scale Miniature... our version of Argus Filch and Mrs. Norris. By the by the lovely Mrs Norris was created by Miniature Pet artist Bridget McCarty ....we also used one of her wonderful kittys on our 'Fedelia Exeter...the delivery Witch' ...Bridget is so good at tiny animals ...I bow to her talents... and I stay with only the things I know best..making tiny pets is not one of them... thanks You Bridget!!!
Richard made the brass lantern ...even the center crystal part... the keys of which we did not have any one hand...he made those by hand cutting each out of a heavier art paper and then blackening each by hand...would have been easier to order...I know!!!...lol...just have to find where to buy some good ones.
OK...I am off to ready myself to 'Magic Time' .... I have purposely not read any of the blogs today or even watched the news...I do not want to hear any 'early' reviews....fingers in ears....LA LA LA LA LA LA LA...I can't HEAR YOU.....LA LA LA LA LA......
Hugs to all
Jodi and Richard

OK...A Couple More....

May I introduce 'Willoughby Wombat' (who works at the Leaky Cauldron)...and Professor Flitwick ... Charms Professor at Hogwarts...and all his many books containing the most magical of spells.

A Kismet Kind of Week!!!

And Boy oh boy did I ever just have one.... Each thing I did or each thing that happened last week (Monday through yesterday) ...happened for a 'reason' ..one thing lead to another ..just a constant ever flowing little trail of interesting and meaningful happenings ... all feeling like they should have happened. I have had days like that in the past... something happens and it feels somewhat magical...but to have an entire week of it... well, needless to say that each day I was laying in wait for that certain something to happen... made for a VERY interesting week. Just a tidbit of what happened... last week it started off with hearing from people we have not been in touch with for Years and Years ...but not just hearing from them...it was happening within a couple of hours of speaking of them... but not just in memory, mentioning things like WOW, wouldn't it be wonderful to move to Australia.... and then, out of the blue to hear from a dear friend who lives there that we have been out of touch with for years...same with another dear friend from Chicago...we took her doll out of a case held it and looked at it , and the next day we heard from her via her daughter/Facebook ...I mean it has been years since we spoke.... and about 4-5 more of those during the week....
Richard wants to learn guitar...a friend is teaching him...Richard has no guitar of his own, our neighbor from across the street comes over and says they are selling their sons guitar, do we want to buy a guitar...WHAT THE!!! I had items I was getting rid of...odd things that have been packed in drawers for ages... I spoke with another friend on the phone and she just happened to be looking for the exact thing I was getting rid of....I had to go and get new Printer ink...before I headed out the door...our printer went belly up.. They happened to be having a GREAT SALE on Printers at Staples that day but I could not justify putting my old one out to pasture as it was still working...barely!...I swear....it knew it was time!! We felt to hose off the patio the other morning at around 5:30am ... noticed a couple of our hoses on our drip system were off.... Richard thought maybe he should check the Pressure Regulator...sure enough...it was soooo close to blowing up...pressure high enough we could have blown our water softener, dishwasher, pipes in the attic...which has happened lately to many that I know...there are many more things that happened... , who knows, may still be happening even as I type this...
So needless to say I was keeping a watchful eye all last week, did a lot of head shaking and "hmmMmmMmmm'ing" I don't think I have ever had a full week like that...may never again...it was so interesting while happening I can tell you...
Not sure if it was kismet, fate, Premonition based, guardian angel or just dumb luck...whatever it was...it seemed to blow in on the warm wind...swirled around in our lives for a few days and then moved on to another unsuspecting soul who is preparing to be amazed...

Don't ya just love weeks like that...

Back to reality based living... Oh, set up my first ETSY Page today...nothing up yet, hopefully soon...I just finished my Mad Hatter Shadow Box... VERY different for me, but it was lots of fun...will probably put him on ESTY... working on a new Miniature Witch and about to photograph Argus Filch...will post here soon.
And of course Wednesday I am doing nothing more than standing in line to see Harry Potter and eat HUGE Amounts of popcorn and Butterfinger Bits ....I feel the stomach ache already...

Have a Super Sunday Everybody...

Hugs,
Jodi
