OMG OMG OMG!!!! I just got a notice this morning in the mail AND through an email.... that my 4oth High School Reunion is 'Bull Dozing' it's way towards me in a few months... HOLY CRAP, how can this be...40 years...ARE YOU SURE!!!! Well if that is not an Eye Popper /Heart Stopper for the day... I don't know what is...!!
It seems like only yesterday that I was a semi reclusive, anti establishment, un-sociable girl who hung out in the Art Room and Hated Cheerleaders and lusted from afar after the one boy that was a total loner mysterious odd ball that everyone thought would be voted most likely to build a bomb in his basement just for fun. I really hated school when I was there...why on earth would they think I would find joy in returning to the scene of 'emotional crime' ?? And WHY must they find it necessary to remind me how old I am in this manner... talk about rubbing salt into a long time semi open wound!! I must admit I am mildly curious about people I 'sorta' knew back then ... but as I was so transparent back then, blending very nicely into the lockers and hallway tiles that lined the floor between rooms ...I am sure it would all be for not if I decided to just 'pop in' .
I have been in touch with a few of the kids I hung out with in elementary school and Jr. High...and it is great fun talking to them via the computer...but they feel like I do ... WE are not OLD!! REUNION...WHAT REUNION!! LA LA LA LA LA LA...can't hear you...LALALALALALALALA!!!!
So that is how my day started...here's to finishing on a younger happier note.
Later, Jodi

I'm with you here Jodi, why do people want to go to these things! To be pleasant to people you hated at school and would avoid at all costs. I'd rather stay at home with a glass of wine and a bar of Chocolate...LOL
Boy you have the right idea Debbie...Wine and Chocolate at home...instead of fake smiles and overdone chicken a la 'Something'.

OMG! I can't stop laughing! I think my 40th is this year too- haven't been to one yet! Sounds like we had pretty much the same life back then. I think I hid out in the art room so much, they finally stopped looking for me. Yes, I think I'd be a little bit curious, but the reality of it is kinda scary! Thanks, Becky
Ugh! High School! Ugh! Reunion! Double Ugh! The only part that sounds good is the "high" part because I'd have to be, to go back to that! I, too, hid away in the art room when I wasn't "skipping" out and off to the nearest coffee shop to hang with a few like-minded friends-ugh! 40 years ago!! Jodi! Bad girl! Depressing!! Where's my Merlot?! The chocolate sounds good too!
I'm SO glad you are & (were) an unsociable girl...SO AM I!!! '-)
The reverse is over-rated anyways.
Kindred CK (-'
Hey Becky... The Art Room always seemed to be the best place to hide didn't it...only like minded people ever went in there.
I have not been to one either...the 10th might have been interesting...I was still thin and fairly young looking...UGH...just like me...always a day late and dollar short...Oh Well....back to my wine!
Later,
Jodi

Oh LOLLLLLLLLLLLL Jodi! You liked the boy voted most likely to build a bomb? Oh LOLLLLLLLL. Bad Boys were always the B.E.S.T.
The dictionary states:
re·un·ion (r-ynyn)
n.
1.
a. The act of reuniting.
b. The state of being reunited.
2. A gathering of the members of a group who have been separated
In the case of high school reunions...the act of being separated is a GOOD thing in my book! I like this definition better, in fact maybe all H.S . reunions should happen here:
Ré·un·ion (r-ynyn, r-ü-nyô)
An island of France in the western Indian Ocean southwest of Mauritius. Previously uninhabited, it was visited by the Portuguese in the early 16th century and first colonized by the French in the mid-1600s as the Isle de Bourbon. Renamed Réunion in 1793, it became an overseas department in 1946.
Wait, if it was previously uninhabited and originally named Isle de BOURBON, undoubtedly this is the place where all H.S reunions started?? ;-)
Toss the invite and have a great weekend!
Hey Oopsie...
Boy Howdy weren't they!!! I LOVE your dictionary definitions of a Reunion...
I will add one...
Ré·un·ion (r-ynyn, r-ü-nyô)
1. A room filled with "I really don't give a crap" attitudes.
2. A Night wasted on people you could'nt care less about...and where you could find 20 other more important and fun things to do like picking ticks off your dog or getting some serious work done on that foot callous .
3. A gathering you should stay far far away from ...click your heels 3 times while saying... "There's no place like Now...there's no place like Now...there's no place like Now"
Hugs for the weekend
Jodi
