Book Binder Bender..........

Richard is on a rampage ...everyone...take cover!!! I know I am...otherwise I will be sucked into the Vortex of learning a New Process... Sorry, brain too full...no room at the moment!!! We are (or rather HE IS) making a book from start to finish...and knowing Richard the way I do...he will not take the easy avenue... he started doing his research 4 days ago... jotting down info. watching 'How To' Videos, reading all manner of book making materials...studying our own books...inspecting each and every one as if he had just landed on this planet and was seeing a book for the first time...I am telling you...this man is obsessed!!! He will not be happy until he learns everything there is to know. I have seen this 'funny look' on his face before...as if possessed... like the time we made a doll 23 years ago...a Viking...the doll was cloth....27" tall...and Richard being Richard...he wanted it to be as authentic as possible... armor, swords...horned hat...the whole nine yards... So in my own naive way i thought he would just tap tap on this...and bend that piece of metal to get the desired results...Until one day I heard a very loud banging...metal to metal...very rhythmic.. very purposeful... I went into our back yard and there where my flower garden 'use to be' was a large hole...dug deep and where marigolds use to reside were burning coal chunks that were glowing red... the man was bare chested (I kid you not) and forging metal on a anvil as it glowed red... (mind you it was in the middle of summer)... he looked so 'Smithy -esk' I hardly knew what to say...the man was making a small sized hand forged battle shield for the doll... he looked up at me with sweat streaming down his brow and in loud and rather other worldly voice grunted out "It's the Only way...it's the only way to make it just right"...I smiled...and slowly stepped backwards into the house... and ever so quietly slide the chain on the lock.....(kiddin!)...The man was absolutely in the zone... I loved the fact that the neighbors would take quick peeks from behind their lace curtains while shaking their heads in disbelief... That was indeed an interesting day.. and he made one hell of a Shield that day...that any Doll Viking would be proud to take into battle...
Well he has that same look on his face these past few days...and I know he will not rest until the book is perfect.... By the by it is a bigger book...not miniature...will be only about 6 by 8 inches...maybe a little bigger...
I do love him for his dedication... and little 'obsessions' ...but if he starts talking in German and decided to take something metal apart in my house to make a Book Press...I am going to have to draw the line...

He slightly reminds me of my dad. He is the sweetest dad in the world but when he's got an idea in his head...mind you, it can be extremely dangerous to stay around him. Danderous like the recipe of the choc microwave cake: I did it and ate it as well. Rather chewy ( my version) but pleaseant. Hubby and son liked it.
Thank you so much for following, I'm honoured.

Hi Rosanna..

That's Richard...a man with a plan!! Glad you liked the cake recipe...hey I figure it is one of those 'It'll do in a pinch' recipes... I have several of those ..like my instant Micro Apple Pie.

Have a great day

LOL ……Gotta love that man’s spirit though.

Mick gets like that as well. I was going to bash a small dollhouse into a church. But for Mick the engineer, that wasn’t good enough and before I knew it he was drawing up plans for a cathedral with a belltower, rectory, flying buttresses, the whole shebang. I got lost once he started designing in CAD, measuring things in 100ths of an inch and calculating the size of the A frames in terms of the vector forces ….or something like that lol. Once physics got involved my eyes just glazed over and all he got out of me was a ‘yes dear’ All I wanted to do was bash a buttercup :-)

Good look with the books Richard !

Oh Goodness Jayne...those two men do sound alike...only one with a tool outside...and one with a tool inside...
I'll bet your Miniature Church was outstanding when complete... on a historic registry somewhere I am sure... sounds wonderful...

Books coming along well...but then that's only a guess...I am several rooms apart from Richard...and plan to stay that way...

yeah it might have be outstanding if he can ever get past the planning stage :-)

Just after we started we moved from MN to CA and now he has a much busier job so I can't moan too much I guess.

I get so many emails though asking when the Pickled Vicar will be done.....one day perhaps !

Hi Jodi ~ I totally agree with ALL you said. Minus the controversies that have surrounded him over the years...MJ is the ULTIMATE performer.

He just turned 50 last August, so I guess he wants to do it with a big bang with the 50 new concerts!

Happy TGIF and 13th!

He truly is a 'Thriller'...my dad many years ago got to meet him while he was in Las Vegas...said he was a charming and charismatic individual... extremely talented. And my Dad was not 'free' with his compliments to often...so I knew he was impressed.
I pray this is the best concert tour ever for him.

Happy 13...

Hi Chris...

It is a small world...I think that is one of the things I like so much about this Big Blue Marble that we all live on....

Hugs,
