Harry Potter Excitement Building

I am just sitting on BIG ASSED Pins and Needles these last few days before the New Harry Potter Movie Opens Wednesday...I can hardly contain my excitement...like most of the rest of you I am sure... So I decided to post a few of our Harry Potter Pieces from a while back...just to try and calm me down a bit...or possibly to get me even more frenzied...not sure which!!!
This is Professor Pomona Sprout...that we created and sold on ebay...she was a fav of mine...in looking at this, I think I need to make a few more Mandrakes to sell on our ETSY...fun stuff. She is 1:12th miniature scale ...
I think I will be posting a few characters each day for fun.... Argus Fitch coming this Wednesday.
Thanks for putting up with my Potter Frenzies
Jodi

Great doll, Jodi...and love the mandrakes! But I gotta ask a question. You have several dolls based on the stories of JK Rowling, which you sell. Have her "people"...or Warner Bros. ever contacted you about this? Or do you have a deal with them to produce this work? I am only asking because I have a friend who tried to publish (on the web) a story based on the "Potterverse" but occuring 19 years in the future and WB attorneies were all over him. Not to mention the whole Lexicon debacle. Just curious....because you don't seem to be the only dollmaker (miniature or otherwise)who has dolls based on the characters in the books.

Because of the just awful situation my friend found himself in, I have been very careful to call my things either Medieval or associated with Merlin, who is pretty much in the public domain, and not refer to HP at all.

More mandrakes are needed! Please make more!
I love and adore this and having not seen it before it was such a fantastic suprise.
As you know i have a love for mandrakes and have been thinking of making a potting table scene. Now i've seen this i can't wait for my pot order to arrive. Terracotta that is and not the other pot... oh lol.
Everyone is so looking forward to the new film, but i've never seen a Harry Potter movie.
Well, thats a bit of a lie. I've been to the cinema for the first few films, but each time went to sleep and snored much to everyones amusement.
It's been showing here on Saturday afternoons for the past few weeks and guess what i did... fell fast asleep on the couch... Lol!
I'm wondering when Harry and Dumbledore will ever defeat he who must not be named. So far they have had many a go without much success. I think they need to change their wands, lol, or spark up a bit more magic.
Shall look forward to more posts this week of yours and Richards work.

Hi Tabitha..

So happy you like our little Prof. Sprout and her family of Mandrakes so much.
To answer your question... mainly we sell to 'Private' collectors ..and never do more than one of anything...and really don't advertise...artists like that rarely rattle anyones cage. If we were to do editions...then we would have problems. A friend of ours 'Robert Tonner' is doing the HP Series in vinyl...but he has been licensed to do so by JK herself and Warner Bros. ...no one else really has... Companies are really funny about others that use characters and ideas to write or design from... if there are any more than just one produced...say a series of books, dolls etc.
Richard and I stay in the safe zone ... In truth people are crossing the line more than OOAK doll artists... when they post pictures that are licensed photographs from a movie, book on their sites...and so many do that. Many don't realize that Photography is VERY licensed by the photographer... all copyrighted the moment the photo is taken by the photographer.

Jodi
