Way out on limb here...flapping away with the breeze...

OK...in the immortal words of Monty Python..."And now for something completely different"...

Our Newest Shadow Box...'Madness and Mayhem' ... our weird little tribute to the Mad Hatter... I really DO love this piece...and believe me when I say...these photos don't do the detail justice. His colors are bright and he had lots of little things happening that you don't really see...drat the luck. This one is different for us in that we normally do our Ghostie Black and White Cobwebby Shadow Boxes...been doing those for several years now...but this one SCREAMED Color...the B&W would not have cut it I am afraid.
He is all sculpted in polymer clay ... very flat yet with perspective and dimensions in both the clay and paint and shadowing. I created the background art work (green teacups) following the lead of the J. Depp / Burton image... the shadow box is 8 inches by 10 inches.
OK OK I know...he has a rather demented look about him... HE'S MAD!!!!!! As a Hatter!!!! This is always the way I really saw the Hatter....slightly Nuts, with just a small touch of evislish wicked humor....

So there you have it.... The Mad Hatter as seen through the eyes of Jodi. I will be doing a doll at some point too...he will REALLY be nutso.

I am going to go over and pop him onto ETSY...normally I do this on EBAY...but I am thinking ETSY this time...

OK...off to have a spot of tea (actually a cup 'o' joe) the Tea just sounded more fitting!!

Tootles...

Jodi ...the Incessantly Giddy!

OMG, this is fabulous with a capitol F. I love doing the bas relief type thing and never thought to make it into a shadow box. Yes, I see his nutty evilness. Thank you for sharing such a treasure. I can't wait to see what kind of doll you would do.

Wow, Jodi, I really like this one. Something different indeed but really wonderful. I think a doll would be grand too. Can't wait for the new movie with Johnny Depp in it. Tammy

Hi Tammy..

Great to hear from you.... thanks so much for the kind words...I think different is good sometimes...makes us step out of the 'circle' we each paint for ourselves...

Hi Marie..

Thank You Thank You...I too love the bright colors...even more bright in person...poor Richard had a hard time photographing this one...I think I heard a few growls and grunts.

Hi Tabitha...

I don't do clowns either, nor Richard... all those fears stem from childhood I am sure...

Glad you saw the madness...your reaction tells me I have a winner...lol

Hi Sue....

Thank you sooo much...tickled that you enjoy this wicked Hatter...
Sometimes things can only be created in a sea of color to express the message...

Jodi

He looks evilish and wicked! I would be afraid of being in a room alone with him. But he is gorgeous, really incredible how you made the depth in such a thin material.
GREAT

Madness indeed...and congrats on the sale :-)

In my mind the Mad Hatter is mad, bordering on insane...even a little sinister.

One of those people you are never quite sure of but when you read they did something crazy you aren't surprised.

One day I'd love to have a go at my own version.
