5 Minute Chocolate Mug Cake..the most Dangerous Cake Recipe in the World

Haven't tried it yet but couldn't resist passing this on....

4 tablespoons flour

4 tablespoons sugar

2 tablespoons cocoa

1 egg

3 tablespoons milk

3 tablespoons oil

3 tablespoons chocolate chips (optional)

A pinch of salt (thanks Casey)

A small splash of vanilla extract

1 large coffee mug

Add dry ingredients to mug, and mix well. Add the egg and mix thoroughly. Pour in the milk and oil and mix well. Add the chocolate chips (if using) and vanilla extract, and mix again. Put your mug in the microwave and cook for 3 minutes at 1000 watts (on Highest)... The cake will rise over the top of the mug, but don't be alarmed! Allow to cool a little, and tip out onto a plate if desired.EAT! (this can serve 2 if you want to feel slightly more virtuous) why it's the most dangerous cake recipe in the world! Because now we are all only 5 minutes away from chocolate cake at any time of the day or night!

As I said...have not tried it yet (was just sent by a chocolatholic friend of mine...

But you can bet your boots that after this weekend of painting...I will be giving this a try...a few times!!

I always thought 'Coffee Mugs' were only for coffee...who knew that delicious desserts could spring from them...and to think of all these wasted years...grumble grumble grumble!!!

Let me know what you think...

Happy Weekend

Morning Chris...Well I don't normally post things like recipes...with so many other things to chat about...BUT...this one looked just odd enough that I had to not only try it (at some point) but also pass along to others that might like 'odd' like me!!

Have a Super Weekend
Hope your snow is gone

OK Jodi, I couldn't stand it. I had to see if it worked! It did. It's kind of heavy as chocolate cakes go, but it is chocolate cake! I did put just a pinch of salt in it too. I think that usually helps the chocolate along. All in all, not bad if you are desperate for chocolate cake and can't wait another minute. Let them eat cake!

Thanks so much Casey for 'Taking the Plunge' ...I will shortly. I was wondering if it would be a tad 'heavy' ... and I like the salt idea...you are right!

I figure...it is one of those recipes that is best made in the dark of night, in a ratty looking robe and scruffy slippers and then enjoyed all alone while watching old movies on AMC...
Not a company kinda dessert... unless they wear their ratty robes!!

Thanks for the report

Please check it out & let me know what you think.

Thanks again, this meant a lot to me.

My cakes are always a flop but no matter what he does they all come come out pefect.
My favouite is carrot cake and could eat it for breakfast, lunch and dinner, plus supper too!

Hi Jodi.
I will let you know when we have all the ingredients. We're missing the chocolate at the moment so once i've done my big monthly dry goods shop it will be first on our list. He made a simple sponge this evening and between the five of us only a few crumbs remain.
Sorry i too took my time in replying... lol.

Please do let me know what you all think of this recipe...I think I might give it a go this evening..
I think it was you that mentioned Carrot Cake...One of my all time favs...with LOTS of cream cheese frosting... that was Richard's and my wedding cake...of course I was a hippy and Veggie-tarian (sounds like someone from another planet) back then...carrot cake was right up my alley...
