An open letter to my Mom....

I Love my Mom...I really do. She has been a great inspiration to me my whole life...someone I have always looked up to...someone who has always been there when I needed her the most...without asking a single question. She makes me Laugh till I hurt... she taught me about food and cooking, fashion and how to smell really good. She dyed my hair for me when I was 15...bleach blond (hey Southern Calif surfer girl phase...what can I say)...and she never said no or asked questions...just did it right for me. She taught me to sing and have a great love of music and how important it is to remember lyrics. She put up with my sea of boyfriends as was growing up...holding judgement until she found out how I felt about them after my first date. She cut my hair for the very first time when I went to summer camp...and cried for a week. She added excitement to everything I did ...making life an adventure each day.

Thanks Mom for the nights you rolled back the carpet and danced with me all night when I was bummed out, Thanks for making those 'special treats of graham Crackers and left over butter cream icing for after school, thanks for slipping in that extra Twinkie for the school field trips, thanks for calling my teacher to say I was not feeling well so we could have a Mother Daughter Day, Thanks for teaching me to sew, thanks for teaching me to swim, thanks for being such a great mother in law (that's from Richard)...

And mostly Mom...thank you for giving me so much to remember, so many good times and being my best friend for 58 years....

I Love You...

Your Little Black Sausage

The pictures are of my Mom when she worked at Warner Brother Studios in the early 40's ...she worked in the mail room and also was a sometimes bit actress. She sang at the Hollywood Canteen during WWII, and Was a Rosie Riveter (which is the last picture)

Happy Monday Morning Marie...

My Mom was a pretty snazzie lookin gal in the 40's...even more pretty in the 50's... I always though she looked like Betty Grable a bit. My day looked somewhat like Gary Cooper...now I have to dig up some shots of him...

Thanks so much

Since no one asked....LOL...thought for sure the weirdness of the name I signed would get a question or two out of one of you... but then maybe you guys already know me and my strangness enough already...LOL!!!
Anyway felt I should explain...

The 'Little Black Sausage' name came from when I was about 5 years old and my Mom signed me up for a ballet/ tap type class... well I was a husky little tyke and when I put on my black tights and black leotards my Mom thought I looked like a Little Black Sausage...so the name Stuck...she at the time was dying her hair red so Dad use to say..."There's my Red and her little black sausage"...oh dear!
Years later...I started an very early short lived small craft business with my Mom... and I surprised her with the business name of 'Red and the Little Black Sausage" ...it was a catchy title and got buyers attention...although at fairs they always thought we should be over by where they sold the food...LOL!!!

So thats the Rest of the Story....

What a beautiful Mother's Day tribute, and you know what they say Richard, if you want to see what your wife's going to look like when she gets older take a look at the mother in law, so boy you are a lucky guy, cos Jodi's mum is gorgeous !!
Its like I always say to John when hes playing the lottery hoping for lots of money, its not the material things we buy the children that matter, its the memories we give them, the time we spend with them, teaching them, showing them and loving them that they will remember and what counts for the most! Obviously your mum has proved that Jodi for you to have such wonderful memories. happy Mothers Day

I seem to always take my time getting here.
I'm a bit of a secret country singing lover and this is one of my favourite songs.
So here is the link for both your Mum and you as a mothers day gift.

Yes, i know its a bit late!
If this doesnt bring a tear to your eyes i dont know what will. I play it every day when i'm working and even though those tears fall it still makes me happy. It reminds me of my mum and how hard she has always tried.
Your mum is beautiful and not just on the outside. She has eyes that sparkle with so much behind them that could tell a tale or two.
Find the tissues first though.
