Hobby Lobby...pinch me, I am dreaming

Be still my heart...we are getting a Hobby Lobby in Lake Havasu!!! OK OK, I know that more than likely 98 % of you out there reading this are saying "What's the Big Deal...we have 8 of them in our town" ...But to us in this little semi sleepy desert town of Lake Havasu ,AZ...it is a Big Deal and cause for celebration of artists and craftsmen alike...we are damn near ready to take to the streets in a out of control dance of unabashed Joy! Remember anything they build here keeps us for a 2+ hour drive to the Bigger City...and I simple HATE hitchin up the buckboard ...do you know how much freakin hay those horses eat..and the price of hay is through the roof...you do realize I am kidding...right!!

Anyway...little by little our town is coming out of the retail dark ages and putting in stores that we can all enjoy...instead of Flip Flop, Bikini and fast boat retailers...ZOWIE this is great news!

The old Walmart turned into a Super Walmart in a different location and the Hobby Lobby took it over...and this sucker looks like it is going to by Gynormous!! We do have a Michaels...but...as Michaels go...this is a poor excuse for one...Michaels Light!! So I am sure they are sweating bullets just about now, and they better get with the retail pleasing program otherwise Michaels will soon be "Buy some shit at Mike's Craft Barn"...

So I offering up 'gifts' at the Great Craft/Art Alter of life in thanks for this new addition to our tiny town...

Does anyone else out there love or at least strongly like their Hobby Lobby? Hey, as my dad use to say..."Better than a Poke in the Eye with a Sharp Stick"!!??

Hugs

Considering both the nearest Michaels and Hobby Lobby are right next to each other, 30 minutes away (and I live in St Louis, you'd think we'd have a better/closer selection), and both are about the same sizes, I am indifferent about which is my favorite. I love both though, just depends on the prices :) Hobby Lobby does have an excellent selection, and I always come away with more than I go in for. I prefer the people at Michaels though, at least in our stores. Would be sad to lose either one.

I can imagine just how you feel Jodi, I think the UK equivalent must be 'Hobbycraft' and I dont have one of those anywhere near me either :o( I only usually get to visit one when visiting relatives who live 2 hrs away so make sure I stock up on anything I might need then... and of course I always stock up on stuff I dont even know I need too! LOL

Ooooh, very cool!! I do most of my crafty/arty supply shopping online now but I like knowing there's glitter, or fabric or wire out there at 3 in the afternoon and I can get my hands on it today if I need to sort of thing.
I dont think I've ever been to a hobby lobby.
We like living in the middle of sort, almost nowhere with a drive to somewhere in every direction. haha
I looked at the hobby lobby site, (they sell online too, cool!) and there's one in Henderson, NV and with the new Havasu one we'll have our pick. Thanks for sharing the info!!!!

I LOVE Hobby Lobby! They have stuff in there that blows Michaels away & they have trims & fabric that Joanns doesn't have. I sometimes just walk down the aisles looking for ideas as they ahve all kids of things. And though I live in a big city, we only have 3 Hobby Lobby...one just opened 5 minutes from my house & I'm as happy as a pig in the poke! I can't wait to hear what you think about your new store...I luv mine!

I totally understand your joy. We have to drive 2 hours to get to Hobby Lobby and Michaels. We have a Ben Franklin in the Ace Hardware store but it has less and less of anything I use. Thank god for the internet.

Happy Dance!!!

Victoria ❤

I completely understand your excitement! I'm from across the ocean (Netherlands) and we don't have anything so large as either Michaels or Hobby Lobby. The biggest craft store I've seen here is not big at all. And I've heard such great things about Hobby Lobby. Maybe I should cross the water some day and shop in the US?
