Gringott's Goblin Start

Morning... well this is the starting of our Gringott's Goblin and his desk setting....so much more to go of course but I thought I would try to show this one in steps too...now all I have to do is remember to stop and pop a pic!!....

He is 1:12th scale so he is extra teeny tiny as he is a Goblin! If standing would come to Harry's
mid upper arm (when Harry was lots younger) This little fellow will have spectacles perched on his nose and some sort of weird hair do....little knickers with a waist coat, vest, watch fob , colonial shoes with brass buckles . The desks shown in the movie where the Goblins sit to me hide to much of their little cute bodies...so Richard designed a desk to show him sitting at his stool yet big enough to hold all of his 'desk goodies' ...we figure he might be one of the Goblins working behind the scenes in the back office of Gringotts !!

The stool is unfinished as you can see...needs to be weathered and stained ...Richard made this from scratch, he shaped the legs from hardwood and well rounded the seat.

This is going to be a fun project... plus I have the Harry Potter Movies on alllll day long in my studio , which I love!!

Hugs to all

Back from the Wilds of Prescott, AZ

And I don't mind telling you...I am none to happy to be back!! What a wonderful time we had visiting Prescott, AZ with our good friends Kate and Tony (Of Woodstock Party Fame) ...
The down side of enjoying ones self and relaxing to the point of being classified as a 'Wet Noodle' is that more pictures were not taken of the whole adventure!! I LOVE to take Pics ...but... I found myself being very selfish with my time and emotions... and wanting to just 'commit' the whole experience to memory rather than to print....but a few were popped and that is good (although as always a rather crappy one of me...it must be known here and now...I photograph TERRIBLE)!!! Anyway...a glorious time was had by all...we checked out many of the local activities and the wonderful Music Nightlife ....listed to jazz in a small bar in the Hassayampa Inn ( which by the way is known to be Haunted...so of course I went looking) ...unfortunately felt nothing...drat!!! We looked in Galleries, ate local fare and traveled around to various lakes to get a feel for taking our Kayaks up next time....thumbs up to that idea...we can hardly wait!
OK...I must be honest here...there was talk all weekend long of a possible pending move to this area somewhere down the road......and all agreed, even Richard who is a man who likes to stay put when he settles in!! I on the other hand have way too much Gypsy in me to settle down for any great length of time. So there is a possibility that in 1-2 years we might be moving up to this region of AZ. Our main reason for a move would be purely to feed our artistic souls....that area is just ripe with culture, local events, Art, Music , artistic projects to get involved with , shopping, beauty, and 'cooler' weather. I am afraid that where we live now is a vast wasteland of anything resembling culture and art... mainly this is a playground for the 3 'B's as I like to call it.... Boats, Babes, and Beer!!!! It is terrific for the locals interested in that and the So. Californians with partying kinda attitudes (not all Californians...just the rowdy ones) ... and I am afraid that Art has finally taken a permanent backseat to all things gas powered, loud and half naked and drunk.... Sad to say about my town...I mean, the long time locals here are wonderful and the area itself is great...but I am frankly tired of Monster Boat Extravaganzas on our main street as opposed t Art and Craft Fairs.... UGH!!
Sorry to get so locally political here in this lovely Vacation Moment...but the one thing this vaca did for me was 'open my eyes' and make me realize that I do deserve more. So with that said...we wait for the market to bounce up a bit....sell the house...and move to Prescott... not sure how long it will take...bottom line , there is a plan in place and a goal...to things I adore and that go a long way to keeping me sane and moving forward....
Even Richard seems into the idea....WHEW!!!!
So that's where I have been the last few days.... NIRVANA! Recharged, Rejuvenated, Raring to Go!!
Started working our our next commission.... Gringott's Goblin sitting at his tall desk...with tons of little goodies from ledgers to pen and quill, gallions to scale..... fun fun fun!!!
Good to be back...
now click those heals and repeat after me three times.... "It's Almost Halloween...It's Almost Halloween...It's Almost Halloween!!!!

Happy Birthday Woodstock...

In-Between all the hassles of life that have been hurdled in my direction lately...we did take time out on Saturday Evening for a small gathering to celebrate the 40th Birthday of Woodstock!! and what a fun time we had...Good Food, Good Wine, Good Talk ...and even a Cake!! Our good friends Kate and Tony joined us...it was all rather impromptu , just the way I like gatherings to be. Kate and Tony are from New York (living in Havasu for many years now) and Kate...bless her heart...was in the middle of the Whole Woodstock Nation...enjoying the 3 day festivities...and boy, what tales she can tell. I never went to Woodstock...wanted to very badly and came close...but the ride I had back there 'canceled' out (and YES...it was a Volkswagen Van)!!...so I instead headed to Southern , California (much closer) for my summer of Love as they called it...lol!
A&E has been running a wonderful 2 hour tribute to Woodstock ..and the new movies comes out next weekend...can't wait!!
About as close as I got that summer was to see the New York Broadway traveling Show of 'Hair' at the Aquarius Theater in LA... it was FANTASTIC!!!!
Yes...we did wear flowers in our hair... wore love beads (Kate is wearing her original ones from Woodstock in the picture) Bell Bottoms, gave the peace symbol every 10 minutes, smelled like Patchouli and did other fun type things of that period....it was innocent and we all seemed to be happy back then... a very creative time for many artists....
Happy Birthday Woodstock ...and "PEACE"...

Cleaning out the Computer Files Again...

As we have established...I am a Fidgety Person...always looking for something to do...so when I am waiting for something on a doll to 'dry' , or waiting for Richard's part to fit my part (sounds weird I know) but it is doll related.... I hop on the Puter and 'clean' moving, shifting, rearranging, dumping and copying loose files and folders...of which I have MANY!!! I am forever running into 'past work' from several years ago that I totally forgot about...finding it again is like a little treat for me . I found my Shadow Box Folder of work I have done as much as 6-7 years ago ...thought I would pop on a couple of my favs. They are mostly Polymer clay, air dry clays, hand painted art papers , and even a found desert cholla. I LOVED doing these Shadow Boxes...each so different, each with a different meaning and purpose...and each I enjoy creating soooo much. I always wonder why I stopped when I see them again... Hmmm, maybe it is time to get back into it again...just dabble a little here and there...again, a good 'Cob Web' cleaning of the old Artistic Brain...
Have a Great Thursday...

Lazy Lazy Weekend

Did you ever have one of those weekends were you had many good intentions to get a gazillion things accomplished ...but by weekends end...you maybe (if lucky) got 1-2 things done? Well that was my weekend....LAZY LAZY LAZY!! It was nice I must admit...but it also drives me a bit loopy and brings on the overwhelming guilt's when nothing gets done. As I mentioned in past posts I just am not a 'Relaxer' ...some people are soooo cut out for that...my sister for one...but I...well, If my plate is not full with many things to do... I feel positively desperate for projects.
So for me to experience a 'lazy' weekend that seemed to pass in the blink of an eye..well, that is indeed one for the record books """"NEWS FLASH.. over rambunctious girl found sitting in corner...twiddling thumbs.... More at 11:00.
I did work on a doll...but in small spurts and then found myself just drifting off to 'Relaxo-Land' every chance I got... WHAT'S WRONG WITH ME!!! Even with my several pots of coffee I remain 'Zoned to the Bone'
I guess things catch up ...and my body is telling me to just chill...and yes, I guess I do deserve it...but I must tell you...I am looking forward to Monday Morning.... to kick off a week of normal fret and stress, work and deadlines....AHHHHHHH...I do love Mondays!!!

Hope everyone had a Super Weekend... and just an FYI...it took all of my strength to type this...time for a nap!!!LOL

Hugs
