Good Morning from the beautiful Desert of Arizona... our friend and local artist Eddo Earley sent us this pic this morning....he takes such great shots of local wild life.... anyway I thought some of you might get a kick out of this one... Not many get to see a Roadrunner up this close .....Ed said he came out on his patio this morning and there was the Roadrunner just sitting on his railing ...relaxed and just checkin things out.... I love these birds...they are so curious and fun to watch....
Have a Great day...and 'Thanks' Eddo for another lovely and fascinating look into the wilds of Arizona...

A Roadrunner relaxing, I guess the Coyote blew himself up with that Acme TNT.
Jodi, those are my least favorite birds. They eat other bird's babies right out of the nest around here. They are pretty as long as they aren't stalking other birds in my back yard. I have a large one that comes in regularly for lunch. I chase him out if there are other smaller birds around. Cool Photo tho. I also have a Harris hawk that comes in regularly. I have photos somewhere in my blog of him sitting on the back of my porch swing!
I agree Casey.... these birds can be real bad for those with young ones or sittin eggs... , but then Richard always explains to me that 'they' have babies too that need to be fed... and so the cycle goes!! Eat and be eaten! Thank god most humans are not like that!!lol.... Harris hawks are all over the lake here...the other day (Tuesday) we were kayaking and a harris hawk came right over our heads as did a large heron ...very exciting and scary all at the same time....

Hi William...oh man that would have been a cool pic...to have a W. Coyote blurred in the background...holding tnt!!

As much as I hate that be eaten stuff, I think Road Runners are interesting birds. I saw them on our trips out West but never saw one just sitting. Thanks for the post.
Wow, that is so facinating!! Why are they called road runners? Do they acutaly run fairly fast? I'm a bird person too.
Hi Tara...
I am not exactely sure why they call them 'Road Runners' other than possibly they always seem to be spotted running across road ways...and Yes, they run like the dickins...they also make a low bass clucking sound....and click their beeks ...pretty good sized bird too...

Hi Judy...I know, that be eaten stuff is for the birds (pun intended!) but it is natures way, and sometimes Nature can be a real bitch!!
They are pretty neat looking Birds

I love roadrunners! I miss seeing them so much. Thank you for bringing me a smile with the picture of your little guest. :-)
Great picture and his glasswork....just wow.
I saw my first road runner out by Dolan Springs, AZ. It was the first thing I'd seen moving in miles...that road from Lake Mead to Kingman is so deserted :-)
I'd never seen one before and actually I didn't know they existed outside of the cartoon.
I even said to Mick 'Oh look at that bird...it looks just like Roadrunner'... Duh !
Being a Brit on my first US visit was my excuse :-)
Hi Jayne...Boy you got that right...that is a very isolated road...I just know the Aliens must land there!
Don't feel strange...I had never ever seen a Roadrunner before Arizona...heck I thought it was a big old very fast woodpecker...that was my Duh Moment!
Hi Kat...
Glad it brought a smile...Eddo is a great photographer of nature...he sends some fantastic shots to us....he is thinking of starting a blog...if he does I will be sure to share his blog address...

What a great pic! I've never seen one before! Beep Beep to you too!!
<3oops
Great photo. I have never seen one sit still and we have tons of them here too.
And they do run down my road. Fast.
Hey Oopsie (Sweet Grandma)...
I know...standing still for them is pretty rare...although at times you do see them on roofs standing very still (hunting I suppose) and they look rather like a Weather Vein...lol!
Hugs,
Jodi
