Bibs, Bibs...we got Bibs!

Can you tell I have been digging through VERY Old Pictures today... This International Overall
Day Event has me whirling like a caffeined up Dervish.... I do love my Bibs...and think the whole world should as well. ... There not your Daddies work clothes any more...
So the above pics are just fun little ones that I came across recently... The first one with the 'Foxfire' sign is Richard and I doing our very first art show together in 1975 ...The Boulder City Art Festival in Boulder City, Nevada. Our booth was filled with our paintings, my hippie style macrame and shell jewelry, painted face rocks, and even a few of my EARLY sculpted from lumpy paper mache face planters...(who knew that would lead to this)...anyway, it was a great and fun show...our friends (on our right) and us...were the only ones at the large show that built a booth from wood to display our art...for years all they had were plank easels and a few tables...we stepped out of the box big time...
The second shot is in front of our little humble and VERY small one room abode that we lived in for the first year of our marriage in Northern Calif. We still say to this day...it was by far the smallest and by far the most happy we have been....
and the Third Bib photo is Richard and I at Disneyland ...we don't really agree on the date...so lets say it was somewhere between November 1974 and March of 1975...
Still hunting for those shots of Richard in his Bibs of the past...might have to settle for 'Recent'...as in about an hour ago...
Hugs,
Jodi

Hey William...

OK, not sure if you are speaking of the booth or our abode...lol...in any case...both were pretty groovy (or Bitchen as I like to say) and yes indeedy we have come a long way... but it seems at times like only yesterday that we walked that path...

Jodi

I lovvve the wooden booth. It's really awesome. Especially the little shingled roof front!
I can't say that I've ever worn overalls, I'm trying to remember...I have a vague sort of half remembered idea of what they feel like, so I must have tried a pair on at some point. Maybe in another life... hahaha
I don't have anything against them I just haven't formed a proper relationship with any. ;)

I love these old "hippie" pictures Jodi! It really brought me back to a time when life seemed so much easier...
I still love my "overhalls" (as my son would say when he was young)

Hi Tace...

That booth was so much fun...we sorta designed it to look like an old ghost town building...we even had a very old window frame set in the side that we found in the desert near an old town...and (as we are with details) I made a pair of semi tattered lace curtains that moved back and forth with the breeze....it was really cool....
I miss those days
As for Bibs...they are really an acquired taste in fashion, people wither love em or hate em...

Jodi

Hi Pattee...

It was a great time wasn't it!! I was always relaxed and laid back...had few possessions...at that time a pickup truck and the smallest Uhaul pull trailer...moving down here 8 years ago it took 3 trips and 5 Biggest trucks...UGH!
Wear those BIBS!!!!

Jodi

Hi Jodi, thanks a lot for these fantastic photos and I am so happy that you still wear overalls, that it is not just old memories from the 70ties, but that you still wear them ! I wore overalls in the early 70ties as well, but I really discover the quality of overalls as late as 2001, when I was on sabbatical at uc-berkeley and lived in San Francisco/Mission and went to thrift stores and just jumped into the overalls and found that by wearing them I could relax and breathe all the way down and since then I more or less live in my overalls except if I have to make some compromise due to flight security check point or businees meetings ! etc. and here in Norway and Europe in general it is very rare to see people like me, who are not into construction or industry, wearing overalls ! so I am so happy deep in my heart to have people like you, Kate, Lily etc. to support this thing ! warm hugs from the North, 69 degrees North, Tromsø, see photos soon on my blog !
